Daniel 3:17,18 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. 18 But if not, be it known unto you, O king, that we will not serve your gods, nor worship the golden image which you have set up.
But he said unto her, You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips. Job 2:10
Being true to principle is not dependant on circumstances, like, at all! The principle in this case (or one of them), was that they could not bow down to any god, except for the true God of heaven. Wether or not God would save or reward them for being faithful, was not a factor in the young men’s decision. Circumstance or feeling, (should not be consulted when we would be true to principle) not a factor when it comes to being true, to principle.
While we are immensely blessed every day, we also encounter difficulties, trials and pain. When we feel the heat, pain or trouble, it is easy to think “God is not with me” or “I need evidence that he cares”, or “if he gives me this or that then I will trust him”. How can we trust principle and not what we think or feel? The answer is “faith which works by love.” (Galatians 5:6). Our faith needs to be fuelled by the love of God daily. If our assurance is found in the fact that He loves us unconditionally and therefore asks obedience of us, then we will interpret it as something that God wants for us, for our good. Our faith will be more effective if it stems from the love of God and the assurance of his desiring our good always.
If our faith is weak then how can we strengthen or grow more faith? “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17). The more we spend reading and studying God’s word, the more time we spend with Jesus. As our love for Jesus grows, so too does our trust and faith in him. We become aware of his faithfulness, love and incredible power, and it becomes natural to trust tangible promises over unstable feelings. It’s a work in progress, but I encourage you, “Never give up!” God’s love is enough! His promises are enough! And no matter what happens, let us trust that our Heavenly Father has got our back!

therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. Jeremiah 31: 3
